Oil and watercolour sketches are used to ‘jot down’ ideas from wanderings and when travelling to help preserve the memory of a place. They are usually fast sketches on beautiful handmade paper journals that travel with me on holidays. I often paint sketches in my journals as a way of relaxing after work and to create studies for larger paintings. Here is a sample of paintings from my sketchbooks, I also share these on Instagram
